Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Invented over 40 years ago by a pharmacist and still one of the best products to discourage fur biting, hair chewing and hot spots. Simply spray on problem area or around the house to discourage bad behavior.

2 out of 5 stars Didn't work!   January 22, 2010

I have used this product in the past for ferrets and it worked great. However, it did not even phase my 8 month old Golden retriever. I sprayed/saturated it onto his extendable leash and he still chewed right through it like there was nothing even on it!

Works well, smell is not offensive to the dog. Does not last long though, need to reapply every few days.

5 out of 5 stars What in the world?   January 14, 2010
Midwest Book Lover (Columbus, Ohio)
I am amazed that people are spraying this product all over their furniture, shoes, curtains, etc. to keep their puppies from chewing! This product is made to go ON THE SKIN, and is intended for use on dogs who are chewing/licking their skin and creating hot spots. It states clearly on the bottle: "Discourages fur biting, hair chewing, and hot spots."

I've never heard of spraying this all over household items. I worked for a veternarian for 5 years and it was always applied to the skin. In fact, the picture on the bottle clearly shows a dog biting and chewing his own foot, not household items! Am I missing something here?

3 out of 5 stars Has it's benefits   December 27, 2009

I bought this to help train the kittens not to jump on the kitchen counters. Unfortunately this did not work for my kittens. They would jump up right after spraying the counter tops and not care. This method would only work if the cat is jumping up there and then likes their paws. Mine like to explore for hidden treasures.

I did however find it very useful where the Christmas tree was concerned, hence the 3 stars. I found my kittens chewing on the artificial tree one morning and figured what did I have to lose. Within minutes of spraying the tree one of my kittens tried sneaking over to chew on it some more. This time he DID NOT like the taste at all. After a few times of icky taste, he never tried again.
