I bought one two years ago to wash my 4 lb maltese. I figured it would last a lifetime. AFter a dozen or so washings, the cartridge fills up and explodes in the rinse position. I called the company, who expressed amazement that this happened and sent me another one.
Imagine my surprise when after a dozen or so washings, it happened again! This time I e-mailed the company and they again responded back as to their amazement that this "isolated" event occured again. They suggested I soak the unit in warm water...
I'm surprised this isn't happening more. I've read several posts on other sites as well.
Buy, but keep customer service contact info handy.

a simple and cheap fix is to simply wrap one of those thick rubber bands that comes with broccoli around the handle and voila, the handle no longer pops open. (Those rubber bands are great for so many other things too!) Come on people, use some common sense! I love the idea of using a cooking syringe to refill the shampoo cartidge! Anyway, my dalmatian, bassett hound, and I all love the Rapid Bath. For me, it's so very easy to give the dogs a deep, thorough bath and for my dogs, it's so quick that they get out of the water extra fast. Win, win! My unit is two years old now and other than the handle issue, it is holding up quite well. And the price has come way down from two years ago.....

OK, so as most of you have noticed, people either love or hate this thing. I, for one, am LOVING this. We have three dogs - a German Shepherd and two Labs, all who love to rough and tumble in our back yard and bring all of that dirt and pollen inside. Bathing them in the shower is such a chore with all of the wetting down, shampooing, rinsing, etc., that we really didn't do it ourselves often enough (the shepherd especially). Anyway, in the about half the time it would normally take to bathe one dog, we had all three done. Also want to mention that buying the kit and 12 shampoos packets were less than one bath at the vet.
We were able to get all three bathed with only one shampoo packet. If they were all muddy or something I could see having to use a lot more, but for just a normal bath, it was no problem. We plan on continuing to bathe them outside while it is warm, and will move to the shower when the weather cools off. Also wanted to note that they smelled "clean" without being overly perfumed or anything. 5 stars all the way for this!!

It took me 5 minutes only to wash my long fur Golden Retriever. The mixture of shampoo and water makes it easier to soap him up. And because the shower was easy and fast, my dog didn't have time to be irritated. The shower head makes everything easier, soaping and rising. The only thing that you have to do extra is the paws. I usually soaks his paws in the water to get some tough dirts out.

Washing all three of my Border Collies used to be a daunting task that was back breaking. Now with the Rapid Bath system, bathing them is actually fun. I can use one ultraclean cartidge for all three dogs if they are not beyond filthy. I love it and the dogs don't mind it either. It's a win win situation!!
The only reason I gave it four stars is when I put it on rinse the shampoo cartridge blows up with water and pops the latch. I am concerned that it will break the plastic latch. I have contacted the company about this and am waiting for a reply.
I am happy to say that the manufacturer replaced my Hydrosurge RapidBath system!!
